Welcome Reception September 2020

I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome those families who are new to Howley and thank those of you, who may already have older brothers and sisters attending our school, for beginning a new journey with us.

Thank you all for choosing Howley as the school for your children. We are all very much looking forward to meeting them and working in partnership with yourselves to ensure all our children have a happy, successful and enjoyable education throughout their time here at Howley Grange.

Due to the nature of the circumstances we find ourselves in at this moment in time; induction for our new children will have to look very different this year. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer our usual programme of meetings and visits. However, please be assured we will do all we can to make everyone’s transition to primary school a happy one.

Our aim is to give you as much information as we possibly can. We are currently gathering together information packs which include the school handbook, information about ordering school uniform etc. As you are probably already aware; schools are currently only open to key worker children at this time, I will update you on our plans for induction visits, but this is dependent on further Government guidance.

Thank you once again for choosing Howley Grange as the school for your children. We are committed to ensuring each and every one of our children receives an exciting, fun-filled education in a safe, caring environment.

Should you have any questions, queries or require any further information or support please don't hesitate to contact us on info@howley.dudley.sch.uk. We are currently operating on limited staff but will get back to you as soon as possible.

It is lovely to welcome you all to the Howley family and I look forward to the day that I will be able to do so in person.

Stay safe, well and take care.

Kind regards and best wishes.

Angela Lewis

A bit more about Reception in September...

The Reception Staff have really enjoyed getting to know you all a little more through their phone calls as well as from talking to your Nurseries, where possible. These have made them even more excited to meet you properly in September!

As you will already be aware, the induction to Howley has had to look completely different this year and come September some things at Howley will continue to be a little different to usual, however some things will still be the same. We want to give you as much information as possible as we understand that starting ‘big school’ can be a time of mixed emotions and some of you may feel unsure of what lies ahead. We hope this helps both you and your families.

How to prepare for September

We know here at Howley that starting school is a big step for you. We understand that this is a time of mixed emotions, you may feel both excited and a little nervous at the same time.
There is nothing to worry about but to help you prepare, here are some practical skills that you can work on at home over the next 8 weeks.

Practising these, will help you build confidence in each skill and will help you to become more independent, ready for September. We feel that with a little bit of preparation you can feel happy and confident starting on this new adventure!
