Dear Howley families,

Well, we have had our tree delivered, dug out our sparkly festive jumpers and I have heard many a carol being sung this week so I think I may have to accept that we are all now beginning to embrace the joyful spirit of the season!

I will just take a moment to look back at what has been a busy month in school. We have worn odd socks to mark Anti Bullying Week and welcomed many visitors to Howley, including Laura from the RSPCA, the Fire Service in Year 4 and the fantastic History Man in Year 5. I must also thank all our families for their support with our fundraising. This half term we have supported Children in Need and The Royal British Legion.  I’m sure you will agree that our poppy display was beautiful and a truly fitting way to honour those in our armed forces who died in the line of duty.  Thank you to Mrs Graham, Mrs North and the wonderful team of Year 6 children and their families who created the display.

I think we would all agree that this time of year is extremely busy. I always wonder how our brilliant PTA manage to balance their work and home responsibilities, alongside organising so many great events for our school. They have already put on a quiz night for our families, created some amazing and very tempting Christmas hampers (with your kind donations) and we have our Cinema Night and Magical Christmas Adventure still to come. I simply don’t know how they do it! I am sure we are all very grateful for everyone’s hard work and support.

Wishing all our children, staff and families a lovely weekend,

Miss Lewis

School Council

Exciting news - we now have our newly elected year 3 and 4 school councillors.  Thank you to all children who put themselves forward to be elected; they all did so well and I am sure it would have been a tough decision to decide who to vote for!

Look out for our school council news in the next newsletter.

Visitors to School

We welcomed special visitors over the past two weeks! The RSPCA led an inspiring assembly on how litter harms wildlife and our environment. Year 5 enjoyed a session with the Dudley Recycling Team, learning about the importance of recycling and hearing exciting news: a new Waste and Recycling Service, including food waste collection, launches in April 2026!

Thank You!

Thank you all for your support with our recent Macmillan Coffee morning and Children in Need day.  We are pleased to let you know that as a school, we raised £479.81 for Children in Need and £243.92 for Macmillan.  We had a lot of fun while supporting these very worthwhile causes; thank you for your support.

Enrolments for new starters are now open for musical instrument lessons in school and at Cable Plaza in Spring Term starting January 2026.  Enrolments are for new starters only. If you are already having lessons, no need to enrol again as lessons will carry on.

Our school Christmas Lunch is on Wednesday 17th December and the menu is below.  The kitchen team have asked us to place our orders by 9th December please, so that they have time to order enough of everything to go around.

Dudley Council are looking to recruit foster carers across the Dudley Borough. Foster care plays a vital part in so many children’s and young people’s lives. In Dudley, the need for foster carers is greater than ever. Please see the leaflet below regarding taking the first steps into becoming a foster carer.
